Situated along the west side of the Saskatoon river valley, King George is an established neighbourhood with mature tree-lined streets and a population of about 2,000 people. Most homes in the neighbourhood were built before 1960, with the majority before even World War II, and boast an affordable average home price of just over $222,000.
While its largest claim to fame is the Saskatoon Water Treatment Plant, the neighbourhood's other amenities include several restaurants. More shops and amenities can also be accessed in neighbouring Riversdale, as well as easy access to the city's downtown.
Those who favour recreation over businesses, however, will love all that King George has to offer. Over 40 acres of greenspace can be found in the neighbourhood parks. In particular, Victoria Park—sitting along the South Saskatchewan River—gives you the most picturesque views for your evening stroll or bike ride as well as the Riversdale Pool, Riverside Badminton & Tennis Club, Boat House & Rowing Club, and Lions Skate Park. The neighbourhood also houses the King George Paddling Pool and a community garden!
Public elementary education is also available at the beautiful King George School, built in 1912.
